Teddy Bear Learning Activities for Preschool

Teddy bears are one of the most beloved toys in early childhood. They are comforting, familiar, and perfect for learning through play. A teddy bear theme is a wonderful way to help preschoolers practice important early skills while keeping activities fun and engaging.

Teddy Bear Literacy Activities

Teddy Bear Alphabet Hunt

Hide alphabet letters around the room and have children help their teddy bears find them. When they find a letter, say the letter name and sound together.

Beginning Sound Sorting

Place objects or picture cards in a basket and ask children to sort the items by beginning sound. For example, a bear might collect objects that begin with B.

Teddy Bear Story Time

Invite children to bring their teddy bears to reading time. Ask questions like:

• What do you think the teddy bear in the story is feeling?
• What would your teddy bear do next?

This helps build listening comprehension and storytelling skills.

Teddy Bear Math Activities

Preschoolers love counting and sorting activities, especially when teddy bears are involved.

Count the Teddy Bears

Place small teddy bears or bear counters on the table and have children count them. You can also match the number of bears to number cards.

Teddy Bear Sorting

Sort teddy bears by:

Feed the Teddy Bear
