Six Week Countdown to Easter–Week 2
Here we are in Week 2 of our series. In light of what is going on around us, I’m not sure if we’ll be celebrating with all of our families or not. However, we can still make the celebration for those who are present.
Easter cards would be a great way to cheer people up who are quarantined or anxious about going out. Routines are a great way to distract us from things beyond our control. So, divide your cards up into manageable groups and dedicate some downtime into addressing them. Maybe include a little note of encouragement.
With the uncertainty of the economy, setting a budget for your Easter celebration is even more critical. To create your Easter budget, you’ll need to list all of your spending categories, set spending goals and track any ongoing expenditures.
Let’s begin by listing our possible spending categories:
- Basket stuffers
- Postage
- Easter cards
- Holiday meals
- Decorations
- Holiday clothing
- Post-Easter sales
Next to each category, set a spending limit. Now add it up. Is that the bottom line you’re happy with? If not, play around with the amount in each group. Maybe you should spend less on basket stuffers (I was always guilty of spending too much) and put that money into decorations or holiday clothing.
We could take some inspiration from our relatives who went through the Great Depression and look for low-cost/no-cost ways to celebrate. Look around your house and see if you have anything you could use for an Easter basket. A child’s toy, like the one pictured below could be used.
Even recycled items could become this year’s Easter basket.

Homemade Easter Baskets with Craft Items
I have decided to make a little crocheted bunny basket for both of my grandkids. I’m planning on making some little toys to put inside. You can check out my Facebook group: Lillian’s Handmade Crochet to see my progress.
A couple of cute ideas I found to include could be:

And what little girl wouldn’t love these?
